Callum Thorpe


Callum will sing the bass solo (including the famous Tuba Mirum) in Mozart's Requiem on Saturday 6th October at Stoke-by-Nayland Church.

He began singing as a chorister in Coventry Cathedral Choir before pursuing a scientific career, obtaining a PhD in Immunology from Imperial College London.  He subsequently returned to music and studied on the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music with Mark Wildman, where he was awarded the Harry Fischer Memorial Prize, graduating with distinction in 2009.

He has already sung roles for Glyndebourne on Tour and will debut at the Glyndebourne Festival this year. Amongst an amazing array of concert performances, he has sung The Fairy Queen on tour in Paris, Caen and New York and concerts in France, Spain and the US with William Christie, Paul Agnew and Les Arts Florissants, and he has already made his debut at Tel Aviv Opera House, performing Handel Israel in Egypt with Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra under Laurence Cummings.
