John Barber is a composer and workshop leader with a passion for drama, collaboration and vocal music. He studied with Sir Harrison Birtwistle (Kings College London) and David Sawer (Royal College of Music) and has gone on to compose for some of the country's leading arts institutions including Royal Opera House, Wigmore Hall, Spitalfields Festival and Glyndebourne. He has also forged a successful career in education - devising and leading projects that bring professional performers together with non-professionals of all ages and abilities to make exciting new work.

John's cantata Consider the Lilies won at the Community British Composer Award, and last year he was shortlisted for an Arts Foundation Opera Composition fellowship.
